Designed by Craig Mathews as a caddis emerger pattern to imitate emerging caddisfly pupae, particularly October Caddis

Features a trailing shuck made of tan or caddis-colored Z-Lon or similar synthetic fiber to represent the pupal shuck during emergence

Body and thorax constructed with natural hare's ear dubbing for a buggy appearance

Includes a wing of white or clear Z-Lon positioned over the body to simulate emerging wings

Tied on standard dry fly or emerger hooks in size 8 ; suitable for surface or near-surface presentation during caddis hatches

Color & style options: Iris Caddis Emerger is available in Olive, Tan, Amber, and Orange (October Caddis). Designed by Craig Mathews, all four use the same trailing Z-lon shuck and spent-wing profile that makes the Iris Caddis such an effective emerger imitation. Olive and Tan match the most common caddis species (Hydropsyche and Brachycentrus) found on most rivers. Amber is a versatile mid-range option for mixed-species hatches. Orange is purpose-built for October Caddis (Dicosmoecus) hatches common on Pacific Northwest rivers in fall.
